About the Artist

Noelle Newton is an artist currently living in the Southwestern United States. I have a BFA in Sculpture from Ohio State University, but find it difficult to focus on just one discipline. After having spent many years in the retail world as a visual merchandiser, I decided to enter art school. I studied fine metals and blacksmithing at Southern Illinois University, and have been doing beadwork since the mid 80s.  Wanting to be a "stay at home" Mom, I have been focusing on creative outlets that are friendly to having little ones underfoot.

Thus the RoseGate Studio concept was born-who says you can't have it all?

Having been taught to sew (and the basics of beadwork) by my mother, I have always found it easier to make what I wanted instead of fruitlessly searching mass markets for special items.  RoseGate Baby Boutique came about when I developed a onesie dress for my little girl after I found it difficult to get two-piece outfits on such a squirmy and impatient baby. I also discovered that the look acquired with the onesie dresses is unique compared to many other styles of infant wear. After many requests from people who saw the dresses, I decided to take a stab at baby fashion.  Many of the other items in the Baby Boutique came about as gifts for friends, and solutions to issues common in many of today's busy households.

I also have another site, RoseGate Studio where I sell my jewelry. The pieces are original designs, developed over the past decade. Currently working with texture and color, the amulet bags shown on the site are truly unique. They are a very tactile experience, with much movement and depth in the embellishments. The earrings are very light for the visual impact they have, and move wonderfully as you do. All materials used are either glass or semi-precious stones and pearls, with the exception of the nylon thread (there simply is no organic alternative).
